The Elixir for Eternal Life

Elixir of Eternal Life

I was just about to write a small thought about the importance of nourishing our souls rather than for our physical and temporal body when uncannily this video on Bernando food secret to longevity came through to me from a pharmacist friend of mine by the name of Gary Onn through our WhatsApp group

https://youtu.be/0Hi8Ue3tA-Q

Many thanks to you Gary

Bernando looks far, far younger than being 111 years old. He looks probably just about 80 years old

Perhaps just before you sent me this video on Bernanda via WhatsApp I may have been spiritually-guided to pen a thought I had only one or two minutes earlier

As a nutritionist-cum doctor and former medical researcher, I think we are all taking the wrong path seeking physical longevity and optimal health through the best nutrition approach

We do not deny nutrition is the mainstay, besides lifestyles, in keeping our body towards a disease-free prolonged existence, but having taken this long journey all my life researching into food and nutrition for the maintenance of optimal health and disease-free longevity and permanence, I have this second thought if we have all along been taking the wrong path?

An Elixir of Optimal Health:

Food and nutrition for optimal health is probably the most popular subject being discussed globally compared to all other disciplines of health, medicine, and medical sciences.

Nutrition is widely and popularly discussed and published in weekly women and health magazines. Its popularity and health benefits are constantly being propagated over radio and television especially some going overboard on health products.

Information and popularity how certain foods may be good for the prevention and even their curative properties are often published in newspapers and in print media, or through WhatsApp like in this or in other videos.

It is also a very popular subject for forum discussion, often the key subject in health talks as well as in countless papers presented at scientific conferences.

We have attended countless scientific conferences on this issue and have  presented numerous talks as well as  research papers during our 25 years professional career as a medical researcher.

An avalanche   of research papers on nutrition have being churned out  with a research expenditure estimated to the tune of US $ 100 billion yearly which place nutrition research one step ahead of cancer research, and yet we know little how food affects health and diseases especially with hundreds of thousands of phytochemicals and other unknown principals in foods yet to be analyzed and studied.  In order to understand all of them would be almost beyond our lifetime ability

First Knowledge God Gave to Adam:

In fact among all the discipline of knowledge, the first knowledge the Lord God taught to Adam after He created him was on food and nutrition. It wasn’t about from which tree   Adam could eat for longevity, but it was from which tree of knowledge  would have caused  him death.

This implies to me they may have been many trees from where their fruits could have given Adam eternal life? It appears to me all the fruits nutritionists may have studied and researched into may have come from that particular tree – the tree of knowledge on food and nutrition translated as food which is good for temporal health and foods that are bad and evil for health and death?  We shall discuss this in a little more detail later

But all these scientific knowledge on food and nutrition are less important to me now. What I am more interested today is on all those trees that could provide us eternal life. This question perhaps would be the most attractive nutrition mystery we need to know, and I suspect all our current information on fruits, food and trees from which our life depends may have been limited to that tree of existing knowledge

Now that I have taken this long, long journey researching how food may massively affect our health and the diseases we suffer years on, I am currently thinking on the spiritual foods for our souls that shall be eternal

Maximum Human Life Span:

We are now more than convinced no matter what food we chose wisely or unwisely, they shall only benefit our physical body short-term, at maximum 120 years.

What benefit then could food confers to our physical body if it is just for a few short years as clearly and truthfully stated:

“the days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away” (Psalm 90:10).

This is a dilemma on death none of us can escape if we depend on optimal nutrition for our strength

This brings me to the next thought if there is a food or a fruit, even if a spiritual one when consumed would give us a life that shall never end?

That to me would crucially be the most important food on nutritional sciences our soul needs to seek.

It would no longer be the common foods plucked from the tree, even plant-based ones from the soil from where we first came.

None of them would be from various trees food and nutrition scientists have desperately been searching all their lives.

Let us now see what God has to say about food from the very beginning of mankind when he created and spoke to Adam

Uncannily, I thought of these two verses given in Genesis

The Magical Potion:

“And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2:16 -17. KJV)

This instantly speaks to me the inundation of scientific knowledge on the foods we have been in the hunt all our lives in search of longevity, yet all must come to a naught no matter what provisions we chose to research and search all our lives to a tune of US $ 1 billion a year.

Why did God then told this to Adam? Why did God give Adam the scientific knowledge good and bad nutrition described as the tree of knowledge of good, and the tree of knowledge of evil?

As far as I am concerned, I translate it as our research knowledge on good and bad (evil) foods.

God already knew and taught Adam which fruits from which trees shall be for eternal life, and which tree of knowledge of good and evil nutrition we currently seek shall ultimately land us all to  the grave.

This brings me to another guided thought that, as food scientists, nutritionists and clinicians should we start spending our money, time and effort researching on spiritual foods when consumed shall give us eternal life instead of wasting all our professional efforts and time seeking for the best meat or plant-based foods when consumed shall one day still return us into the soil.

But which is the best spiritual food we need to consume for our souls that shall never perish?

This is an exceedingly complex research question that would have caused scientists far, far beyond a US $ 100 billion yearly budget in research. This is also be a nutrition vision I am now mulling?

Please allow me time to be guided by God to answer this elixir for eternal life

It would be the most spectacularly Nobel Prize winning Nutritional Science or in Medicine ever stupendously achieved.

I am currently unable to open the answer as I have only received this video on Bernando food secret to his (physical) longevity 45 minutes ago before I could pen my personal thoughts here

Perhaps Bernando would have preferred my thoughts for an eternal existence rather than a 111 year subsistence.

Give me time to be guided

Best Way to Eat Garlic to Retain Its Medicinal Value

 Dear Dr Lim JB

My wife intends to make her own garlic and ginger sauce which she thinks is healthier than buying ready-made ones from the super markets.

She reads a lot of your various articles in your blog often, sharing with me. She is asking me to find out from you what is the best way to retain the medicinal value of garlic if she makes her own garlic and ginger sauce and how best should garlic be eaten as you are also a research nutritionist and food scientist from your CV on the right. You would be the most qualified person to answer.

Sorry for your precious time, but I hope you would not mind

Thanks a lot

W. Parker

I receive a question from a gentleman here posted in the comment section below this article:

“The Elixir for Eternal Life”

https://scientificlogic.blogspot.com/2021/02/the-elixir-for-eternal-life.html?showComment=1660996545152#c4439152436355336025

He was asking about the medicinal values of garlic and how best to prepare and consume them in the form of a sauce?

Here’s my answer to Mr. Parker.

Thank you for your question Mr. Parker.

Here are some suggestions on how garlic ought to be eaten. But first, let’s look at some of the bioactive principles and medicinal values in garlic.

The major bio-active principles in garlic (Allium sativum) are its organo-sulphur compounds, such as diallyl thiosulfonate (allicin), diallyl sulphide, diallyl disulphide, diallyl trisulfide, S-allyl-cysteine, and S-allyl-cysteine sulphur oxide (alliin). Probably one of the most important is ajoene.

However, I remember in 1964 (58 years ago) when I was still a postgraduate student in London, one of my professors there was telling us they did a study on some 20 different brands of garlic pills from all over the world, and what they found was, ajoene in garlic was not present in any of the pill. Probably they were destroyed during the processing when garlic were made into pills?

But I am not sure if other bioactive sulphur compounds like alliin and allicin were absent. We were also told the pharmacopeial dose of garlic was 4 gm daily.

Another bioactive compound in raw garlic is allicin. The original alliin is converted into allicin when the enzyme alliinase is activated by chopping up or crushing the garlic.

Similarly, other organo-sulphur compounds in garlic are also activated when the garlic is crushed. It will then release the enzymes that will in turn liberate these sulphur compounds to give garlic the pungent smell and chilli-hot taste and their medicinal values.

However, if garlic is boiled, cooked or fried, the enzymes are destroyed. Not only are the enzymes destroyed, but the medicinal properties of these sulphur compounds themselves are destroyed. Both are damaged even before the boiling point of water at 100 degrees Celsius. That is why garlic loses its taste and pungent smell when cooked.

However, sometimes cooking vegetables other than garlic lightly in hot water for a short period such as blanching them in hot water for 2 minutes increase their nutritive value by inactivating the enzymes that destroy the vitamins in them. One example is ascorbinase that destroys vitamin C. Blanching vegetables may also preserve the colour, flavour and texture of the vegetables besides preserving their nutritional value. But in this case, blanching garlic may not be advisable.

In short, it is far better to eat crushed garlic raw, rather than cook them. It would be advisable to use crushed garlic without cooking them to prepare garlic sauce probably with olive oil, a little salt and some apple cider vinegar added if desired. The garlic and ginger may be macerated in a blender.

Try not to consume too much salt to avoid hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases. The recommended salt intake is just 4 g. per day.

This applies also to the ginger if garlic-ginger sauce is what was intended.

On the question of the medicinal value of garlic, it has been shown to have anti-cancer properties provided again it is crushed or chewed and not swallowed whole. This is because alliin itself in garlic has no anticancer properties unless it is converted into allicin which then plays a major role in their antiproliferative effect in cancer. Nutrition scientists think this effect may be credited to the ability of allicin to briefly deplete the intracellular gluthathione (GSH) level.

The level of the decline in GSH levels correlated well with the growth inhibitory activity of allicin, thus demonstrating its anticancer values if consumed raw in a crushed state. Allyl sulphur compounds are important antitumorigenic agents, and diallyl disulphide reduces the size of cancer growth.

In laboratory studies, garlic intake may reduce the risk of colon cancer because diallyl disulphide inhibits the growth of neoplastic CMT-13 cells and of N-acetytransferase activity in human colon adenocarcinoma cell line. Additionally, it was demonstrated diallyl sulphide is an active inhibitor that promotes phase of 9,10-dimethyl-1,2- benzanthracene induced skin tumours in the mouse.

Other therapeutic uses of garlic are for conditions linked to the cardiovascular system, including atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), high cholesterol, heart attack, coronary heart disease, and hypertension.

Garlic has been used for the prevention of various cancers, among them for lung, prostate, breast, stomach, rectal and colon cancers.

The effective pharmacological doses of garlic surprisingly are quite small. It has been suggested that only 2 to 5 g of fresh raw garlic or 0.4 to 1.2 g of dried garlic powder is sufficient for its anti-cancer and antithrombotic properties.

Since the effective pharmacological dose of garlic is 4 gm a day as mentioned earlier, 30 cloves of garlic were then weighed. A head or whole bulb of garlic will have about 10 lobes, each lobe is called a clove.

Weighing each clove of garlic individually, and the whole bulb collectively, it has an average reading of 7.3 gm per clove. This surprisingly means that by chewing just one clove of raw garlic is sufficient to impart all their medicinal properties

I hope I have answered.

Seek Not Physical Health or Wealth, but Eternal Wisdom for Our Souls

A vegan friend of mine who is a medical doctor advises us to be a vegan, and recently gave an example of a business tycoon in this country who became a vegetarian.

This may sound like good advice as far as promoting health and longevity especially for those who are exceedingly rich who may fear disease and death. The wealthy naturally are extremely worried when they die, they must, and have to completely leave behind everything they have - wealth, fame and powers while they still breathe in this world.

Unfortunately, death MUST come to everyone one day, whether we are rich or poor with completely no exception for anyone, notwithstanding we are vegetarians, vegans, meat-eaters, food supplements consumers or patrons, purchasers and customers of medicines and potions for “eternal” health

See here for “magic potions”

https://scientificlogic.blogspot.com/search?q=elixir+

See here also the meaning and measurements of health:

https://scientificlogic.blogspot.com/2022/10/the-meaning-and-measurements-of-health.html

Death is the final destiny for all as disease and death is no respecter of any human or any living creature that creeps on the surface of this planet

See the reasons here:

The Biology of Aging: Why do we get old and die:

https://sg.docworkspace.com/l/sINyoyYK9AdW4_psG

What one need to fear is this verse here:

"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell"

(Matthew 10:28)

What we need to fear is that our souls are immortal, and they remember everything we do here on earth when the body dies. Here's an example Jesus has warned in Luke. Jesus is sinless and did not lie when he gave the example of the rich man and the poor man called Lazarus when they both died

"There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day.  At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

“The time came when the beggar died, and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.

In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So, he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’

“But Abraham replied, ‘Son, REMEMBER that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here, and you are in agony.  And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us."

(Luke 16:19-26)

Verse 25 in Luke 16 clearly tells us our soul REMEMBERS all that we do and have when we were still in this world.

The soul exists and remembers here:

https://scientificlogic.blogspot.com/search?q=soul+remembers

The physical body is like a whole functionable computer that has all the keys that write into the ram to store what we think and write temporarily there.

The ram represents our brain that temporarily stores the memories all we have, and have done here, while the hard disk permanently represents our souls that store all those memories permanently after being transferred from the ram.

So does the body copy and transfer every bit of information into our souls as evidence for or against us when we leave this world.

Even when the entire computer is old and 'dies' representing our physical body that dies of old age or disease, the memories stored in the pc hard disk are still there like all the memories from birth to the grave transferred and stored by our indestructible souls. See here for explanation. Those memories persist even on death, being transferred into our souls. See experiences here:

https://scientificlogic.blogspot.com/search?q=persistence+of+memory

Hence, it would be far richer and more profitable for us to enrich our souls with spiritual wealth and wisdom that are eternal than seek temporary physical wealth we acquire even for a 100 year or more here on earth.  There is also completely no way we can try to resist disease and death ultimately by being a vegetarian or a vegan.

Even if we are completely a meat eater, smoke a lot, drink a lot, and do nothing else but laze around only to die at 60 with all kinds of lifestyle diseases, or we are a vegetarian, a complete vegan, exercise, mediate and destress ourselves a lot to extend our lives past 100 years disease-free, at the end of 60 or 100 years we still die. What then is our final objective?

"The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away"

(Psalm 90:10)

What purpose in life does it serve then if all those labours, struggles, difficulties, achievements in sorrows we put in for 120 years of our extended life were in vain if we were to fly away on death? The dead body literally cannot fly away of course, but it is our soul that left us and flew away, is what this verse clearly means. See this explanation below:

https://scientificlogic.blogspot.com/search?q=soul+faster+than+light

In short, it is far better for us to seek for guided spiritual wealth and wisdom that remains with us for all eternity, than to acquire all the wealth of this world for just a hundred years only to leave them all behind us when we die to allow the irreversible chemistry of death and bacteria to take over by devouring and disintegrating all our flesh leaving behind only our bones with no memory

See here what happens when we die:  The Irreversible Chemistry of Death:

https://scientificlogic.blogspot.com/search?q=chemistry+of+death

The only way we can nourish this soul of ours is to seek wisdom in our prayers - ask for only for wisdom and guidance, and not knowledge from the universities we attended, least of all, ask for earthly wealth, name, power and fame for 120 years at most in our lives in this world.

When God appeared before King Solomon in his dream what he wanted, King Soloman asked for wisdom, and not wealth, and in so asking, God endowed him with both wisdom to rule over his kingdom plus wealth too that he did not ask

" And God said to Solomon: “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honour or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life; but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king.

(2 Chronicles 1:11-12)
