Let's not forget, comets friction-heat air as they enter... oh, yeah, and if a small 0.5km comet enters the ocean, the splash it makes — similar to a human being jumping into a swimming pool — can easily become an enormous plume of water and steam, and if the comet enters on a high enough trajectory — that is, straight down — the water plume can easily get thrown back up in it.
Most likely scenario, however, given how easily cyanide turns to gas, is a high-altitude air burst. Remember, HCN is slightly lighter than air in gaseous form, and if enough of it is released into the clouds, you know exactly what that means: Cyanide rain! Which will then go on to contaminate snowpacks and river sources around the globe.
